ONVIF

ONVIF is established as a non-profit organization.  It is an open industry forum for the development of a standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products.

The cornerstones of ONVIF include:

- Standardization of communication between IP-based physical security products

- Interoperability between IP-based physical security products regardless of manufacturers

- Open to all companies and organizations

The ONVIF specifications define a common protocol for the exchange of information between network video devices including automatic device discovery, video streaming, event handling and intelligence metadata.
